An exhibit of 16 of my recent paintings was presented by Gretchen Leclezio in the West Studio gallery of Palmetto Art Center, from April 1 through 26, 2011. The paintings came mostly from the Offshore series, but several earlier pieces were included to indicate the way the work has progressed in the past couple of years. Starting with the intimacy of my collage series of Beach Paths, then moving onto the wide-open beach, with acrylic paintings on canvas, I explored shores and shorelines. Most recently, my perspective moved from the beach out onto the water, with the Offshore series that was presented by the Studio at Gulf and Pine, in January, 2011. The Palmetto Art Center is a fresh, vibrant gallery and community center that aims to serve all the communities of Manatee County, including Bradenton, Anna Maria Island’s three cities, Palmetto, Parrish, Ellenton, and Lakewood Ranch. A wide range of creative activities is offered, and the art is beautifully presented. The galleries are open on weekdays from 10 to 2, but closed on Wednesdays. PAC sits just across the river from Bradenton, two blocks west of Business 41, on 5th Street West. For more information, contact Gretchen at 941-518-2109.
